Trees for Dorset – Welcome on board!

Boys repairing hedgeWe are now fully established as Trees for Dorset (ITF Branch no longer). We also have the registered name Dorset Men of the Trees. Please do not be put off by this recognition of St Barbe Baker in whose footsteps we are now following – protecting, planting and promoting trees. He founded Men of the Trees in Kenya with local tribesmen in 1920.

Looking forward we have a flourishing Schools Project – “My Life, My Tree, Growing Together” – centred on rural village schools. Children leam to connect with their local environment, leam about trees – particularly local ones – and plant trees they have grown in the village – patching a hedge or making a wildlife shelter belt or small landscape feature. We are desperatelty trying to get funding to continue this project as guiding our volunteers visiting the schools is an expert environmental teacher. Should you know of a possible source of grant or sponsorship please let us know at
